Observation of post

The reason i'm writing this post is to share my observations of the post on facebook. It seems that quotes were not effective as I posted a famous quote by Winston Churchill on a motivational video which features Derek Rednond. My comrades also posted a post with a quote by Sinclair Lewis which then further encourage other facebookers to 'like' the page. Both post were clearly unsuccessful though as there were no responds even though the views were quite respectable, seeing there are nearly 100 views each for both post. I tried to salvage the situation by liking the posts, hoping that likers will follow suit but only 'admins' of the page like it. Therefore, I will try to continue to do more research on how other prestigious brands post and hopefully implement a more effective way of posting.

Xiao Chen had started posting comedies everyday on the facebook page but i could see that it wasn't as effective as before due to the predictability of the post where we would place equal emphasis of text only and videos.

Products photos

I have updated the products photos in our dropbox and I will later update them to our FB page.I have edit some of them and they are quite useful.
Our page has 112 likers now!!! I have post the URL of our FB page to all of SP group.I also post it on SP engineering FB page , because it is related to our company and it will intive likers as much as possible.!!

Practical 3 Local

On the first week of July, I group myself with Evan Tay to research about the use of Social Media Marketing for Hardware/DIY store in Singapore. Because Evan is already busy being the leader of the group and helping out other team mates, I suggested that I do the research and powerpoint slides myself; he agree.

Clearly, "Singapore hardware store" and "Facebook" don't mix well. Finding a local hardware store's Facebook's page was as scarce as er.. water in Sahara? Google search came up with no findings. Eventually, I have to resort to searching for the names of Singapore Hardware/DIY stores and search the company' name in Facebook; even so, it's still rare as ever to find one.

However, I still managed to find a Facebook page by a DIY store going by the name of "Zener DIY Store", but still, it was disappointing; There was only a few followers and the latest update was in Dec 2011. I tried to search for other Facebook pages which are hopefully better but it was to no avail. I eventually have to resort to using the Facebook page by Zener DIY.

So there, I research about this company use of social media marketing and present it on a powerpoint. It turns out that although the company's Facebook page appears as a failure, their website was actually quite well done.

So it seems, "Hardware store" and "Facebook" don't complement each other very well.

Or is it? - When I saw the overseas Facebook group my other group mates were researching on.

Company Website - Online Presence

On Wednesday, the 11th of this month, I completed coding the website for Chang Yong Seng Hardware & Tools Enterprise. We were very enthusiastic to create a website for the company because we wanted to create an online presence for the company. We felt that it was important to do so as due to constraints in the Facebook and Twitter pages, we are unable to provide all the necessary information on the company.

Furthermore, the market segment that is most likely to visit hardware stores are middle-aged adults above 30+ of which a significantly larger percentage do not have time to use Social Media Platforms. Also by providing important informations like Opening Hours, Location and Products sold through a formal website, the company would be held in a more serious light as we feel that Facebook and Twitter pages are informal.

Also, as highlighted by Mr Chong during one of the SMM lessons, nowadays it is a must for companies to have a website or else people would doubt the existence of the company. Furthermore, the business might be perceived as too small and insignificant as they do not even have an official website.

Initially, it was planned that Dion would take charge of the layout of the website and create a few pages while I would add in content and create the other 75% of the pages based on the layout designed by him. However, we felt that the layout was slightly disorganized and could be further improved on. Hence, based on Dion's existing layout:
I re-coded from scratch loosely based on the current layout:
Furthermore, I also used the Facebook Application that Dion painstakingly researched on and took hours to do. I decided to not use his Twitter Application though because it was buggy on Twitter's end and did not work at times.

After showing the website to my team mates, they felt that the initial logo:
looked fuzzy and was of funky colours. Hence I decided to change the logo to the existing one:
based on their feedback. After getting the thumbs up from the rest of my team, I decided that the website was finally done. The pages will now be shown below:

Finally completed the compilation ppt for practical 3

I have soloed the compilation powerpoint myself. Compared to our previous powerpoint presentation, our current one has a lot more graphic and I am certain it will be a lot better. I placed extra effort of putting more resources into the slides. Awaiting group members' comments...

Company's Facebook Page Profile Picture [UPDATE]

The original post:  http://1a06smm.blogspot.sg/2012/07/companys-facebook-page-profile-picture.html

After uploading the logo to our Facebook group, Xiao Chen immediately gave very useful feedback. He commented that red and white might make the title more attention-catching and that yellow and green made it look fuzzy. I never thought of it that way and immediately started working on amending it as I felt that his feedback was right!
